I sideloaded Amazon App Store today.

Sideloading is one of the big reasons I prefer Android on my phone. It lets me load applications that don’t reside in the Android Market. This is useful for applications that are a work in progress and not ready for distribution. It’s also useful for companies like Amazon to market and distribute their own applications.

If you go to the Amazon App Store for Android you’ll be able to download a new app every day for free. Just pick that app and Amazon will send a link to download their app store. I’m having fun with Angry Birds Rio.

Note: sideloading an application means it’s up to you to insure nothing bad gets onto the phone. This has caused a lot of trouble for people in China where Malware is being distributed in less than reputable apps and stores.
