Micropayments not so much

Micropayment clearing fees are still too high for the service I’m working on. Both Amazon and PayPal and want 10% plus 5-cents for transactions less than $10 and $12 respectively. With an average transaction of $1 for my service, I’m loosing 10% just to get my money that I need to then extract my percentage before paying my customer. Yikes!

I figured out a better solution for the time being. If I give each users a wallet that they fill up $10 dollars at a time, I can get the transaction cost down to 5.5-cents. Plus I cutdown on the transaction management (i.e. sending email to the customer saying their wallet is refilled).

At some point, volume will help bring this cost down further. If anyone on the Interwebs knows a better (lower cost) solution. Please let me know.
