Adjusting Pitch

I consider myself lucky that I get to hang out with a group of great musicians. While Pitch has a couple of meanings, in today’s post they have a similar requirement.

When singing you need to be able to listen to yourself, or have someone who’s opinion you trust, listen to you. When necessary, you make adjustments to a number of parameters (breathing, stance, etc.) so you make the best possible sound.

I ran into a similar situation last weekend while pitching Feed The Meter. The person I was presenting to understood the concept, but wasn’t too excited about it. This is the first time I’ve run across this and my first thought was “he didn’t get it”. But in listening to what he was feeding back to me, I realized that I while FTM is a simple idea, it wasn’t an exciting idea.

Walt Doyle of Where.com told me once that when you first pitch a business, you have an opportunity to create a picture of what you think the world should look like. I think I need to understand that better as I adjust my pitch.
